Every keystroke was permanent. Mistakes meant White-Out or starting over. The clack of typewriter keys and the ding at the end of each line were the sounds of productivity.

Typing class taught us proper form. Manual typewriters required finger strength. Electric ones felt like luxury. Today's backspace key is convenient, but it made us lazy. Typewriters taught precision.
